No one expected it, not even him - Stéphane Archambault is getting back into music, and it's high time he did. Back on stage for the first time since the end of his popular group Mes Aïeux, he launches into a solo show of 12 new songs, augmented by a few selected covers that are in tune with - or have influenced - his compositions. Tales of rupture and renewal, of time and surroundings, laid out in a narrative arc; an update of who and where he is, in the I rather than the we. Marked by the French Golden Age, with a phrasing that affably evokes traditional music, Archambault advances a plural, generous song, at once reverential and a little crusty. An exercise in shamelessness: he peels off his skins to present himself in an intimate, contemplative way - to connect more with an audience he hopes will leave smiling. A show with serene reflections on age and common pitfalls, as well as a lesson in humility for an artist who comes back to you: launching himself into the void and into your arms. A debut album is due in the spring - a feverishly shared reunion.
