Biography

From the time she successfully released her first single “Ça va ça va” in 2017, Quebec-based singer-songwriter Lou-Adriane Cassidy showed tremendous promise despite her young age. Her debut album, C’est la fin du monde à tous les jours, was released in February 2019 to great acclaim in Quebec and France. She rapidly gained attention by winning the Lucien award for Pop Album of the Year at the 2019 GAMIQ ceremony and by receiving two ADISQ nominations that same year, for Adult Contemporary Album of the Year and Revelation of the Year. In 2020, the Académie Charles-Cros granted her its prestigious Coup de cœur award for her debut album. Equally valuing her talents as a singer-songwriter and performer, she combines compositions and collaborations with ease, putting herself in service of the works she chooses. The single “J’espère encore que quelque part l’attente s’arrête” lays the groundwork for a sophomore, “Lou-Adriane Cassidy vous dit: Bonsoir” album that’s even more assured and uncompromising than its predecessor.

From the time she successfully released her first single “Ça va ça va” in 2017, Quebec-based singer-songwriter Lou-Adriane Cassidy showed tremendous promise despite her young age. A finalist at the Festival de la Chanson de Granby and Francouvertes music competitions, she has emerged as a strong and confident voice, while forging an identity that is truly her own.

Her debut album, C’est la fin du monde à tous les jours, was released in February 2019 to great acclaim in Quebec and France. With overseas travel plans on hold due to the pandemic, her visit to the other side of the Atlantic promises to be even more warmly welcomed when the time comes. She rapidly gained attention by winning the Lucien award for Pop Album of the Year at the 2019 GAMIQ ceremony and by receiving two ADISQ nominations that same year, for Adult Contemporary Album of the Year and Revelation of the Year. In 2020, the Académie Charles-Cros granted her its prestigious Coup de cœur award for her debut album—eighteen years after her mother, Paule-Andrée Cassidy, received the same distinction. Fully owning the stage everywhere she goes, Lou-Adriane Cassidy has completed a tour of over 75 concerts, with appearances at the Festival d’été de Québec, Les Francos de Montréal, Festif! and a number of more intimate venues and festivals. As she began to discover the musical possibilities of live shows, notably by accompanying Hubert Lenoir on stage, she slowly embraced a more grunge and rock attitude, which suits her perfectly.

Equally valuing her talents as a singer-songwriter and performer, she combines compositions and collaborations with ease, putting herself in service of the works she chooses. The songs she takes on truly become her own, regardless of who created them. On stage, she embodies the rich lyrics of Barbara, Jacques Brel and others, as if they were a second skin. Her fans, who eagerly await a sophomore album, have been treated to a few off-record collaboration singles: “La pluie ne tombe jamais sur toi” (November 2019) and “Mais ce soir,” sung in duo with Anatole (November 2020).

Slated for release in the fall of 2021, Lou-Adriane’s second album will also let her shine before live audiences, as she revisits all the stages that were deserted during the pandemic. Her first single "J'espère encore que quelque part l'attente s'arrête" (I still hope that somewhere the waiting stops) sowed the seeds of curiosity in many and the astonishment of a sensual, mature and transformed Lou-Adriane. Songs such as "Réponds" and "Entre mes jambes" lay the foundations of an album that is even more assertive than the first one, without compromise.
