Biography

Lou-Adriane Cassidy is an artist who needs no introduction. Her leading role in the Le Roy, la Rose et le Lou[p] (RRL) tour, twice described as “historic” by La Presse (in 2021 and 2023), serves as proof. Rave reviews have led many to believe that she holds our music’s future in her hands. On her upcoming third album, Journal d’un Loup-garou, the artist has chosen a new path and shed the influences of classic French pop and neo-grunge that led to her first reinvention. Lou-Adriane Cassidy now stands at many crossroads and has revealed herself to be more shape-shifting than ever. With disarming vulnerability, she bemoans the state of show business, sings from the point of view of a monster trapped in a downward spiral, and asks for absolution for herself and her father, who left home when she was 16. On her most recent offering, Lou-Adriane Cassidy sounds freer and stronger than ever. The album captures the energy of her live shows as she explores new avenues of pop and contemporary music. Journal d’un Loup-garou is the manifestation of a clear and determined vision, kicking off a new chapter of our songbook through sheer will.

Lou-Adriane Cassidy is an artist who needs no introduction. After winning the most recent Félix-Leclerc award and the Lucien award for Artist of the Year at the 2022 GAMIQ Awards, being nominated in the Singer-songwriter of the Year, Critic’s Choice, and Rock Album of the Year categories at the ADISQ Awards in 2022, winning the 2022 Slaight Music prize, and being named the Académie Charles-Cros’ artist of the year in 2020, Lou-Adriane Cassidy has become one of the leading voices in Quebec music. Her leading role in the Le Roy, la Rose et le Lou[p] (RRL) tour, twice described as “historic” by La Presse (in 2021 and 2023), serves as proof. Rave reviews have led many to believe that she holds our music’s future in her hands.

Her track record has long been impressive. On her first album, C’est la fin du monde à tous les jours, her stunningly mature and restrained performance made waves, leading to nominations in the Adult Contemporary Album of the Year and Breakthrough Artist of the Year categories at the 2019 ADISQ Awards, and a Lucien prize for Pop Album of the Year at the GAMIQ Awards the same year. Her second album, Lou-Adriane Cassidy vous dit : Bonsoir, was also a huge critical success and the tour that followed proved that she is a fierce, magnetic performer. (To which we’d like to add, “Yeah, we’ve known that for a while.”) Named “best Québécois concert we saw in 2022” by Le Devoir, the Bonsoir tour, which included over 70 shows, took her all over the country as well as to Switzerland and France on several occasions. Having just wrapped up the RRL adventure with her peers, Ariane Roy and Thierry Larose, during which the trio established a meaningful bond with its audience and stoked a renewed sense of collective pride, Lou-Adriane Cassidy is now ready to take up all the space afforded to her thanks to that collaboration. More expansive and ambitious than ever, her art needs to reach the highest spheres to spread its wings.

On her upcoming third album, Journal d’un Loup-garou, the artist has chosen a new path and shed the influences of classic French pop and neo-grunge that led to her first reinvention.
