Biography

Like a metamorphosis, L’Isle is a new opportunity to create differently. Right now. That’s how Ariane Brunet, who is well-known in Quebec’s music industry, sees it. The Montreal-based artist has shed different versions of her past creative self to make pop music that’s poetic, emancipated and feminine all at once. Ever confident and savvy, she has redefined her approach. Since this (re)birth, she has brought her aesthetic vision to life by releasing catchy singles as a solo artist and with collaborators who inspire her: La vague, Fais aller ton corps with Random Recipe, Nocturne, Demi-rois with Qualité Motel,as well as her cover of Madonna’s Like a Virgin, which is a massive hit on streaming platforms.

Together with musicians Félix Petit (Les Louanges), France Basilic (Qualité Motel, Valaire) and coproducer Steeven Chouinard (Le Couleur), Ariane launched its first long game Soif under its artistic signature L'Isle in May 2023.

With three studio albums and several tours in Europe and Quebec under her belt, the singer-songwriter has released her fair share of radio hits, going on to win two SOCAN Popular Song awards. Espace Musique named her Public Radio Discovery of the Year and she was also nominated for the Félix Leclerc Award in addition to racking up two nominations at the ADISQ gala (in the Best New Artist and Popular Song of the Year categories). Now, she has decided to wipe the slate clean. For years, the singer-songwriter composed organically on piano or guitar, but this time, she chose to work with some of the hottest contemporary beatmakers and producers. Since this (re)birth, she has brought her aesthetic vision to life by releasing catchy singles as a solo artist and with collaborators who inspire her. To this end, she took part in a number of writing sessions and fruitful collaborations, such as Fais aller ton corps with Random Recipe, Demi-rois with Qualité Motel, Piece by Piece with Heartstreet — which was featured in Sandra Coppola’s film, Trophée, as well as in La Dérape, a Quebec TV series — and Dreams with Jsquared, an Australian DJ.

Critics have claimed that La vague, which is the product of a fruitful collaboration with the prolific D R M S (member of SOMMM) and her first single under her renewed identity, is “the best pop song released in Quebec within the past few years.” L’Isle was named a Future Star by iHeart Radio upon the song’s release. The feminist anthem that shines a light on the #metoo movement was a mainstay in the BDS Top 20 and has been streamed over half a million times online. The follow-up single, Nocturne, performed just as well. La vague is also featured in a recent Telus advertising campaign. The song Aime-moi is featured, for the second year in a row, in a national advertisement for Montellier.

A frequent guest on television (Belle et Bum, En direct de l’univers, Y’a du monde à la messe) and a seasoned performer (Francofolies, Festival d’été de Québec, Festival des Montgolfières, among others), L’Isle also attracted worldwide attention with her cover of Madonna’s Like a Virgin, a massive hit on streaming platforms that has garnered over a million plays.

Ariane launched its first long game Soif under its artistic signature L'Isle in May 2023. It includes the first emancipated and evocative singles: "Vanille", "Amer amour", "Nirvana" and "L'Azur".
