Biography

GROS MENÉ !

In 1998, the Fred Fortin’s now cult band with buddies Olivier Langevin and Michel Dufour release an album who’s dirtiness is only toped by the genius of its title, Tue ce drum Pierre Bouchard. And did Pierre Bouchard ever killed that drum on the couple tracks he played on. His story is still a total mystery today, but both Langevin and Fortin still reference him at great lengths today. More on that later. Both rockers achieve a successful solo career post Gros Mené, and they get together in Lac St-Jean, their alma mater, on the Summer of 2012 to shoot the… erhm, and record some tracks. Those sessions quickly became this new album, Agnus Dei, a sacrifice on the rock altar, quoting again and again crazy diamond Pierre Bouchard, eternally omniscient.

Agnus Dei is everything but cute emptiness, it’s full-on thrown riffs, abrasive, everything at 11, love of ROCK, capitalization, bold, guitars, 67 Mercury Cougar, crazies cut loose and a tad bit of liminiant Ménard, just for kicks. In 2013, the album wins the Felix for Album of the year - Alternative at the ADISQ Gala, and wins Rock album of the year at the GAMIQ.
